Kaplan offers three online high schools

The name “Kaplan” has long been associated with education, so it should come as no surprise that they operate colleges and high schools. What may surprise some readers is that Kaplan now operates three online high schools. And, of course, we have all three up on the site. They are:

Kaplan University High School

Kaplan College Preparatory School

Kaplan High School

Kaplan University High School offers programs for adult students and the focus of Kaplan College Preparatory School and Kaplan High School are on the teen crowd. My experience with Kaplan, both personally and professionally, is that it is important to them to offer a quality product to their students. I think you would be pleased with any of these three schools.

Are you an online high school?

Well, I assume that you are not one. However, if you work at one and would like to see if you can get your school listed at Best Online High Schools, then send an email through the contact form and I will be glad to take a look at your school.

As it happens, just yesterday a school let me know about their new online high school program. It worked for them and they are free (if you live in certain counties in California!).

Free online high schools for homeschoolers

I am well aware that one rather large group of people who visit this website are homeschoolers. What you may not be aware is that I have been a presenter on several different occasions for homeschooling conferences. A great group of people, to be sure.

Here is my present for them and for you: Free Online High Schools for Homeschoolers is an article that I hope helps you determine what to look at in choosing a free* online high school.

And thanks for visiting!

*Well, free, except for all those tax dollars that you and I have spent to make them free!

Free online high schools in Missouri

Missouri is home to two online high schools with varying degrees of freeness. To understand how free, you will need to talk to the schools.

Missouri Virtual School is located at Missouri State University. It should be free provided your school is willing to pay for the course.

Missouri Virtual Instruction Program is free provided there are “seats” available. If not, while it is still possible to take courses, you will need to pay.

The American Academy comes onboard

Best Online High Schools is pleased to announce that The American Academy is now a featured school on this website. While a newer school, it is already accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS). This is a not inconsiderable feat.

From its listing:

The American Academy (TAA) is an online private high school that operates through its own NAAS accreditation and through a public-private partnership with one of the nation?s first public online high schools. The program has served more than 80,000 students since its inception in 1994.

As I have said here and elsewhere, some online high schools are desperately in search of professionalism. Take a look at their website. They are the real deal!

Success story from Virtual Community School of Ohio

Hearing success stories can be helpful to you in making the decision as to whether you want to become an online high school student or whether you want your child to become one.

Virtual Community School of Ohio is featured in today’s West Virginia’s Herald-Dispatch. It tells the story of how an unsuccessful traditional high school student became a successful online high school student. Read about how he became a successful online high school student.
