Additional information: California Virtual Academies utilizes the K12.com curriculum. It is free to students across California. Key components, in addition to a strong academic foundation, is the building of an appreciation for diversity and the development of an awareness of the importance of cultural sensitivity. CAVA is a chain of schools with locations in Jamestown, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Ysabel, Sonoma, and Sutter counties.

Additional information: Antelope Valley Virtual School utilizes the Advanced Academics curriculum. It serves Kern, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Kings, Tulare, and Inyo counties. Antelope Vally Virtual is part of the Abraham Lincoln Independent Study program within Southern Kern Unified School District. It is offered for grades 6-12.

In the latest edition, it talks about their new mascot. They are now the ANHS Surfers. A rather unusual name, to be sure, but I like that they have one now.

Additional information: Allied National High School offers both national and regional accreditation. The school provides one-on-one support for students. The school does offer a dual credit (high school and college simultaneously) program through its own Allied American University. Students will want to check with their intended colleges as to the acceptability of unit transfer from that university.

Additional information: This school is available only to students in SD43 Secondary School District. It has a number of options including a continual entry program, upgrade courses (to improve grades), and a blended program where students have access to face-to-face teachers.

Additional information: Sequoia Choice Arizona Distance Learning offers a great option for students to earn dual-credit, high school and college credit, for certain courses. The courses are taken at local community colleges and then the credits are transferred into Sequoia. In order to qualify for the program, a student must maintain a 2.5 high school GPA.

Additional information: In order to take advantage of the course possibilities with Arkansas Virtual High School, a student must be resident in a district affiliated with the program and be in grades 9 – 12. This is a part-time program, so your local public school district must be affiliated in order for you to take courses with AVHS.
